About Us

About us

One animal. Every size. Each one named before it leaves.

Not a plush shop with a capybara in it. A capybara shop.

A shop that sells everything has to describe everything vaguely. A shop that sells one animal can tell you how tall it is, what it weighs, what it is made of and what it is like to hold — and can be held to it. That narrowness is the whole idea.

Who we are

01.

Who we are

Capybara Plush is a shop for capybara plush. Not a catalogue of animals with a capybara somewhere in it — a herd, where every piece is the same creature at a different size, in a different finish, with a different temperament.

We are independent. We are not affiliated with, licensed by, endorsed by or connected to any character, franchise, film, show, game or other toy brand, and we do not call ourselves the official or original seller of anything.

Why the capybara

02.

Why the capybara

Because of how it behaves. The capybara is the animal that lets birds stand on its head, shares a hot spring with monkeys, and does not appear to be in a hurry about any of it. That is the entire appeal, and it is why a capybara on a desk reads differently from any other plush on a desk.

We are not going to pretend that makes it a wellness product. It is a soft object shaped like a very relaxed rodent. That turns out to be enough.

How we choose what joins the herd

How we choose what joins the herd

Filling density, pile length and seam stitching decide whether a plush still looks like itself in two years, and all three are invisible in a photograph. We buy against that list rather than against the lowest price.

Where a maker confirms those details to us, we publish them on the product page. Where we have not been able to confirm something, we do not fill the gap with adjectives.

What we refuse to say

04.

What we refuse to say

A shop is judged as much by what it will not claim as by what it promises, so here is the list in writing. We do not invent scarcity: no production numbers, no edition sizes, no “only a few left” unless it is true. We make no health claims: a weighted capybara is a comfort object, not a treatment, and nothing we sell is a medical device.

And we do not sell our plush as tested children's toys. They are collectibles for ages 14 and up, and items with micro-beads, sewn-on details or removable accessories are not suitable for children under 3 — we say so plainly on our Safety & Allergy Information page.

Every product page carries three things

Real measurements. Height, length and weight, in inches and centimetres, shown against something you can judge scale by. Photographs flatten size, so we show every measurement against a familiar object instead of leaving you to guess from a picture.

What we have actually confirmed. Filling, pile and stitching, where the maker has confirmed them to us — and silence where they have not.

A name. Every capybara in the herd has one, and it stays with the order, so the one that arrives turns up already introduced.

Capybara Plush is operated by Margaux Kettner (entrepreneur individuel), a company registered in France at 30 rue des Bourguignons, 92600 Asnières-sur-Seine, SIRET 106 525 819 00012. We ship within the United States only. You can reach us at thecapybaraplushcompany@gmail.com or on +33 7 82 44 72 55, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time. There is no support queue and no ticket robot — the person who answers is the person who runs the shop.

Minis for a desk, weighted ones for a lap, giants that need their own corner of the sofa. If you are not sure which size you want, start with About our Products — it has the scale laid out end to end.
